Day 300: Most Creative Question

Lately everyone's been stressing out about prom. Whether it's hanging out at the beach house afterwards, which people are in which group, or who's going with who, prom has just been a big mess of confusion. The boys have really waited this year to ask the girls, so we've been freaking out a little! It's almost only a month left until the big day, so planning keeps coming more and more down to the wire. After so many people continuously asking me, "who are you going to prom with?" I finally stopped answering. I had options, but no boys had manned up yet and popped the question! Finally, today those questions were put to rest. I have seventh period with Mark and Erin, and today we were having our last quiz today over Alas Babylon. Mrs. Field passed out the quizzed and told us that there was an extra question that wasn't printed on the quiz, so she was going to put it on the board for us to copy down. I started taking my quiz and had answered a couple of questions when I heard Mark say, "Man, that's a difficult question." Instinctively I looked up at the board and read, "In chapter 13, will Brittany Muller go to prom with Mark Agatep?" I immediately clasped my hand over my mouth in awe as everyone started to laugh. Seeing they were waiting for my answer, I finally said, "yes!" It maybe have taken Mark a little while to ask, but it was worth the wait. He definitely wasn't voted Most Creative for nothing!

Day 299: Commander Baker!

Today was Austin High School's annual Commander Baker charity softball game! Every year, the school raises money for students and teachers play against each other and donate the money for scholarships and a charity of the student's choice. This tradition started in 2002, in order to honor the fallen ones in our country. It was fueled by the tragedy of September 11th, and the shortly there-after loss of our very own JROTC Commander Joe Baker. 2011 was the 10-year anniversary of our game, so it had to be a big one! Before the game, there's a midway filled with games like the dunking booth, pie-a-teacher-in-the-face, and even a piƱata stand! The game itself was a little lame, it was the first time in history that the teachers and the students tied... what is that! Usually we play extra innings, but I guess the teachers just weren't up to it this year, they know they were gonna lose! Cale was the announcer of the game, and he spiced things up by getting the crowd's attention and asking his girlfriend Victoria to prom, so cute! She's not one for loving the spotlight, but she definitely felt like one special girl :)

Day 298: Messy, Messy, Messy

Ever since I've come back from Destin for Spring Break... my room has been a mess. Suitcase still on the floor, clean clothes that I didn't wear sprawled out everywhere, dirty clothes that I did wear sprawled out everywhere... needless to say it's not a pretty sight. I can't remember the last time I made my bed, all my schoolwork is on it! My room became so messy in fact that some days, there's too much going on in my room that I get flustered and just decided to sleep in Diane's room in her bed. My mom has been on my butt for a while now to get it cleaned, but there's just so much stuff that I don't even know where to start! It's a danger zone, and I think if I tried to clean... I'd get lost and stuck in my pile of clothes and never be able to escape! Well, today was the day that all changed. I actually can see my floor now! It's a miracle! Hopefully I never get my room that messy again, it took the whole day to clean and it was just too scary!

Day 297: Fish Fail.

Everyone knows the Houston Rodeo is longer in town, but there's no time limit on rodeo season! Tonight at Young Life we had a semi-rodeo-themed club, with some games that got... a little too crazy. I think that when John planned them out in his head, it looked like it was going to go over pretty well. But once the game started, everything was just a fail. The point of the game was this: there were two cowgirls and two "bucking broncos". Each of us girls had to ride our Bronco while - get this - jousting. And ot just any normal kind of sword or spear jousting, FISH jousting. Each of the boys had a pair of pantyhose on their head, holding an egg in place on their forehead, while the girls tried to crack the egg by smacking the boys in the face with our fish. It was probably the most disgusting game ever, and it definitely didn't work. My "horse" (Tyler Hopson) wound up jumping around so much trying to avoid getting fish-slapped, that I accidentally slapped the other GIRL in the face with my fish... yikes. The fish smelled disgusting, the eggs wouldn't crack, and on top of it all, the fish started to bleed everywhere. I'm pretty confident when I say that I don't think Young Life will ever try to fish joust again.

Day 296: What's Your Flavor?

I can now officially say... SNOW CONE SEASON HAS BEGUN! Last time I went to the Chill Out snow cone stand, it was in the summer after playing frisbee golf with some younglife kids (when Tori got hit in the head with a metal frisbee... hilarious!) Today after spending our morning cleaning (well... Erin cleaned her room while I slept, hahaha), watching tv, and just being the lazy bums we usually are, we decided to get up and do something. Getting snow cones we thought was the best idea we've had in a long time! Erin always gets "Thug Passion", which I think has the funniest name on the menu, and I always get "Pink Lemonade". I could serious eat these snow cones for the rest of my life, they are delicious no matter what flavor you pick! I kind of look tired in this picture... not my best. Maybe I was just so lost in the sugary goodness of the snow cones, I thought I was dreaming!

Day 295: Mini-Mathletes

The entire year, Mu Alpha Theta is focused on one single event - Mini Mathletes. It's a day where a bunch of fourth and fifth graders from all elementary school in the area come to Austin High School to basically have a day camp about math. This year, I volunteer my time as a chaperone, something I've never done before. I was a little nervous not knowing what to do for the nine hours I was supposed to have the kids, because that's a long time! It turned out, Isabelle Seto and her group were with me the entire day, so we ultimately just combined our groups into a super-group, and it was so much fun! We had three girls who were as sweet as could be, and three little boys who loved to wreak havoc! The boys were pretty fun, but they sure were a handful! I swear, I couldn't turn around for a second without one of them going off on their own and causing some trouble! We all made a giant paper airplane, cracked some jokes, and talked about all the things they were interested in - including Club Penguin. At the end of the day, one of Isabelle and I's boys won a math award, he even got to go up to the stage and accept a medal! We felt like proud parents clapping in our auditorium seats! The day was long, crazy, and filled with math... but it was totally worth it! No matter how troublesome they might have been, I think the kids in my group were the best kids I could've gotten!

Day 294: Senior Pictures!

Tonight I had an event that I had been anticipating for a long time, Senior Pictures! Okay, it seems a little silly that I would be so pumped about something like this, but I was seriously excited! I mean, who doesn't want somebody to take pretty pictures of them, it's so much fun! Meyer & Maples took my pictures, and they were so amazing to work with - I highly suggest them! ;) Jackie Maples was my photographer of the night, and she was so silly and so much fun! She and my mom tried to keep my smiling and laughing, which sometimes got a little embarrassing. Jackie brought her son - Mitch - along to help, and I'm pretty sure he busted out laughing when my mom tried to imitate the song "Friday" by Rebecca Black. She said thursday was the day after friday... what an amateur! Throughout the night, the wind was blowing and some cows were blocking some of our prime picture spots, but we seemed to manage and the pictures turned out amazing! I've only seen a few so far, but I can't wait to see the rest of them :) Senior pictures are just another milestone achieved in my soon-to-be-over wild ride of senior year!
