Day 265: Run Like the Wind

Tonight I got to babysit the precious Singleton babies again! Grayson was gone all night at baseball practice, so Caroline, Ellie, and I had a girl's night! Usually Ellie gets pretty upset when she has to part with her mama, but tonight she was eager to have her mommy gone, she wanted to have a dance and ice cream party! We all created some delicious sundaes with lots of sprinkles and M&M's, put in their favorite Disney CD, and had a crazy awesome dance party! Being young is so fun and crazy, those girls aren't afraid to dance like there's no tomorrow! We even walked the tightrope, played the lantern princess game, and had races around the house. Every time I babsit these youngsters they are always willing to race, they are competitive little scoundrels! Tonight was I beat in a race around the house, and race up the stairs, and even a Lego boat race! I guess these crazy little girls are just too fast for me to keep up with!

Day 264: Job Hunting

This past summer, I had my first job ever. It was a Fish City Grill, and I really did have a great time there for about 5 months. Around the beginning of school, I decided to quit because I wanted to be able to focus on college applications. Of course I wanted to be able to attend all the football games too! Anyways, after a while of not working and getting to be a lazy senior, I definitely got used to it! Pretty much the entire senior year I've been "unemployed", and it has been the time of my life. I like earning money, but I absolutely love laying around and being able to just chill everyday. Sadly though, ever since football season has been over, my mom has been pushing me to go out and look for jobs again. I've somehow avoided it until now, but today I just realized that she was right, and I need to start earning money! If I want the prom dress of my dreams, I'm going to have to work for it! I applied to a couple of places, so hopefully I have a good chance of getting an offer!

Day 263: Full of Love

As a senior, I've realized that there is so little time left here with my family and friends. It's a pretty bittersweet concept, getting out of high school and moving onto college, but I'm excited. I know that this year I definitely can't stop talking about how I've been taking advantage of the time I have left, and trying to be able to experience as much fun as I can before we all leave! I'm sure along the way my friends and I have probably made some irresponsible decisions... but I'm not ashamed! If there's one thing I am sure of, it's that "When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did." :) I think that after all the crazy stuff my friends and I have been through, it doesn't discourage us from acting out, it ENcourages us! No matter how much older we become, I'm pretty sure we'll never stop being mischievous :)

Day 262: Bigger & Better

Tonight was one of the best Younglife events ever created, Bigger and Better! Well technically, we're not supposed to play this game, but thank goodness we have John who lets us break the rules! The point of the game Bigger and Better is pretty simple. Everybody splits up into teams of cars, and each team starts out with a paper clip. Each team has to go around the neighborhood and stop at houses to ask the owners if they are willing to trade the paperclip for something "Bigger and Better". For example, you could exchange the paperclip for a stapler, the stapler for a basketball, the basketball for an old tv, and so on. The game gets pretty crazy, and the ending items are definitely amazing! One team even brought a fire truck! My team didn't win, but our adventure getting our shopping cart, giant inner tube, and tire was definitely one to remember. We were followed by about 5 cops, and two even had their lights on. We thought that we were gonna go down for stealing the cart, but thank God they weren't coming for us! It was a crazy night for sure, and my memory of tonight will always be one that's big and better! :)

Day 261: Sunday Bloody Sunday

Today was supposed to be the day of my senior pictures, but unfortunately something got in the way and they had to be postponed until March 25th. What a bummer, because I was really looking forward to taking some pretty pictures! I think that after the multiple stressful shopping episodes however, my mother and I were still unsure about all of my outfits, so it was a bit of a blessing. After finding out that I didn't need to wake up for pictures, I definitely wanted to sleep in the entire day. However, Diane is in town and she wanted to get up and go shoe shopping before she had to leave! I can't ever miss out on shopping day, that'd be crazy! I really think my family is becoming a little bit shopaholic, it's a bit of a problem. I decided thought that since we weren't going anywhere too nice, I would just stay in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, not too fancy. However, when I tried on my first shoe, I noticed a little something on my leg. I had apparently scraped my knee last night and forgot to clean it, and there was a trail of dried blood down the front of my leg! A little gross, and I couldn't believe that I didn't notice! I guess I had too much fun last night for me to even care, which I don't see a problem with :)

Day 260: Crazy Hats

Tonight was a little crazy, crazy with hats that is! A group of people went over to Barrett's for a little bit to hang out in the hot tub. We are all excited that the weather is finally looking up, so we decided to take advantage of it while it lasts. Before getting in the pool, we hung out for a little bit in the garage. After about 5 minutes, we realized that Barrett has an unusually large amount of hats in his garage! Big hats, small hats, straw hats, metal hats, anything you could think of! The boys, being the funny guys they are, decided that they were all going to wear different hats and make it crazy hat night! These boys are hilarious, Logan and Brandon even brought out some guitars to sing us a song. Unfortunately, they don't know how to play guitar, and their song was, well... not the best song I've ever heard! Those boys are a bunch of silly weirdos, but I love 'em anyways!

Day 259: Bieber Fever!

Today after school, Erin, Jamie, Erica, Victoria, and I went to see the Justin Bieber movie in 3D! The pictures are pretty blurry, but that's because they came from a video - we forgot to take any pictures today! Anyways, before the movie, I was definitely a Justin Bieber fan. I think his music is great, and the fact that he's already to famous at such a young age is so impressive! Plus, he's definitely a cutie :) But after this movie, I think my love for Justin Bieber increased tenfold! The story behind how became famous is truly amazing, and he is a genuine young man who is going to be a great performer for a very long time. Justin Bieber really seems like a great guy, and I am definitely not ashamed to be a fan! I think that anyone and everyone (even those who don't love Bieber) should see this movie! If you aren't a fan before the movie, you sure will be after. Trust me, you'll become a Belieber!

Day 258: Get Rowdy

Unfortunately, today NHS sprung a surprise event on all of it's senior members. The junior members were getting inducted today, and usually the induction is optional to attend for senior members. Unfortunately, today's ceremony was mandatory... go figure! It's easy to say the senior members were pretty unhappy about it. Having to dress up and go to the school on a school night, what the heck is that about? All the seniors already don't like being in NHS anymore as it is, but when they have mandatory events, there's no way that the seniors will be on their best behavior. While sitting in the auditorium, we were supposed to be polite, quiet, and respectful guests. But let's get real... when are seniors ever going to follow the rules! We were a pretty rowdy bunch, clapping, shouting, and even "awwww-ing" and some of the inductees. We were supposed to be there to support the new inductees, but all we were really happy about was the fact that the new members will do all the work we don't have to do! :)

Day 257: Study Party!

So far this year, Calculus has really been one of my favorite classes (nerdy, I know!). I never ever do homework and I've made consistent grades. To top it off, I love the people in my class a lot! But lately - and it may just be the senioritis getting to me - it really just hasn't clicked! When Mrs. Hall talks, I sometimes just drift off, which I shouldn't but I can't help it! Integrals of e... bleh! We have a test tomorrow though, so I had to get cracking on the books. Opening my calculus book, it just didn't sound appealing to me! But lucky for me, I wasn't the only confused one... by any stretch. Tonight, Savannah, Robby, A.J., Tyler, Matt, Maddie, Chad, and I all got together at Savannah's house to sit down and have a study sesh! Sitting around the kitchen table for about an hour just review calculus... it takes a toll. All of our brains were pretty fried. So in the middle, we decided to have a quick break and dance party! Well, I decided we should have a dance party, and no one but A.J. danced with me! Even though everyone thought it was pretty dorky, it loosened me up to learn some more. Maybe I should just get up and dance in the middle of my test tomorrow!

Day 256: Family Love

Since yesterday my mom had a pretty busy schedule, she gave my dad his Valentine's gift today. She ordered it offline, and made sure that he wouldn't find out so he could have a good surprise! :) When she got home today, she took the box and went straight to his office so she could give it to him! He seemed pretty surprised that he was even getting a gift in the first place, but even more surprised when he saw what it was. My mom got him (well, really for the both of them) a puzzle of candy Valentine's hearts with their names in the middle. Definitely one of the cutest gifts I've ever seen! My mom insisted that they build it together, and my dad agreed and said they should glue it together afterwards and frame it so he could hang it up in his office. Even though it's my parents and I should probably be a little grossed out by the mushy stuff, I love that my parents are so happy!

Day 255: Single's Awareness Day

Today is the most lovey dovey holiday of the year for couples... Valentine's Day! However, for the rest of us people out there, we call it "Single's Awareness Day". Since neither of us had Valentine's, Erin and I decided we were going to go out with Blake and Price - who also didn't have Valentine's. Just four friends hanging out, celebrating the fact that we were single! We chose to go out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, a perfect place! Not too fancy, but not too casual :) Good thing we got there early too, because the wait at six was already 35 minutes! A little ridiculous I'd say! The service was pretty slow, but we were totally okay with it, not like we were on a date or anything, haha. We all had a good time catching up on each other's lives and hear about each others' weekends, the boys' hunting experience was a little more crazy than ours! After finishing up our meals, we headed out to hang out at Blake's for a little bit. We had a crazy dance party, a perfect end to our Valentine's Day!

Day 254: Friends and Food

Today I finally got to follow through with my tradition of seeing Richard every time I come to College Station! Usually, he's the reason why I come up there, but since I was so busy yesterday, we didn't have any time to hang out. Lately everyone's been talking about a hot new burrito place called, "Fuego". After countless comments, I decided that it was time for me to check it out! It definitely lived up to it's reputation, those stinkin' burritos were delicious! I think the fact that I got to eat them with my best friend definitely made me love them more though :) Unfortunately however, my escapades were put to a halt because it was time for me and Erin to head on home, so we packed our things, picked up some sodas from McDonalds, and hit the road. Although I love College Station, I think we were both ready to go home and take a nap! Erin and I came home to a loving home, with buffalo chicken lasagna and the Grammy's waiting for us. A relaxing end to a crazy weekend :)

Day 253: Broken Windows and Fallen Heroes

This morning Erin and I woke up pretty early to travel up to College Station for the weekend! We were staying with her sister Kaitlyn, and were looking for a good night out on the town! After grabbing some Lunch with Diane before she left to go on a retreat, we all recharged our batteries by taking a quick little nap, then headed out to hang out at Kaitlyn's friend Matt's house. Before we got there, Kaitlyn kept talking to us about how she had given Matt and his roommates a hampster, and that the boys had let him loose. The boys claimed that he had run amuck in the house for about two days, but they had finally caught him the night before. When we got the house, Kaitlyn went straight to the cage to show us the hampster. It seemed to be sleeping, so she poked it a little. We quickly found out that poor Justin Jr. was unfortunately dead. Although he had only a short life, he was very much loved. The boys decided that in order to honor the "fallen homies", it was necessary to have a funeral. So after digging a hole and having everyone put on dress jackets, we began the eulogy. Everyone had to pay their respects to Justin Jr. and everyone had to rhyme. I didn't think that a funeral could ever be funny, but I really was proved wrong. After our mourning of the dead, we all went home to eat some dinner and get spiffed up before going out for the night. We were meeting a few more friends, including my next year roommate Lauren, out on Northgate for some partying. It was some ultimate bonding - my favorite thing ever! I can't wait to come to College Station next year, Lauren and I are going to have so much fun meeting new friends and tearing up the town!

Day 252: Bucket List

In order to celebrate my 18th birthday, my friends and I planned to have a night that we would always remember. We made a list of things to accomplish, (based off of Brooke Davis' bachelorette party on One Tree Hill and the movie the Hangover) and we were not going to let ourselves down by missing out on the fun! We didn't exactly get all of the tasks done, but really, who can get everything done they ever want to do? We always have more days to celebrate, so why not spread them out? :) We started the day off after school at Chilli's to grab something to eat and open my presents from the girls. They got me some beautiful dresses, and some other cute stuff, they just know me so well! Later on, I went to Savannah's house to get together and celebrate with some friends! We all played some games, listened to some super bumpin music, and partied the night away. The night got a little heated, but after a little sorting things out, finally everyone calmed down and we continued to have a good time. I learned that no matter what goes on, my friends will always be by my side! There's no other way I'd like to celebrate my birthday than with the friends that I love <3

Day 251: The Great 1-8!

Today was one if the most important days of the year! It was my 18TH BIRTHDAY! I started off the day at midnight with a skype call from Diane, which was hilarious. She danced to a Katy Perry song called, "Peacock", and Erin secretly recorded her! I love my sister Diane, and she definitely gave me one of the funniest birthday greetings of the day. When I got to school, I walked in to my first class and found many birthday goodies and things covering my desk. Anam and Kaitlyn both covered my desk with lovely presents, and it definitely kick-started the day with a great note! Every period, I got many birthday wishes and compliments. Birthdays make people feel so special, hearing even random people tell me made me smile :) I even had over 300 people on facebook tell me happy birthday, which everyone knows is a great feeling, even though it's only just facebook! After school, I watched John Tucker Must Die with Erin and Jamie until Erin had to go to work, then Jamie and I went to Katy Mills mall! It's a much bigger mall then ours, so it's always fun to go to and find some clothes that our mall wouldn't have. After shopping, the family and I went out to dinner at BJ's, which seems to always be our restaurant of choice when it comes to celebrating! I even got a free mini pazookie because it was my birthday! After dinner, the family gave me presents to open; a new camera, and a shake weight! I know it's a little bizarre to get a shake weight, but I've wanted one ever since Christmas, and they really couldn't have gotten me better gifts. My birthday overall was filled with friendly strangers, loving friends, and the best family ever. I love my life and everyone in it, they definitely make me realize that I am really blessed. For the past 18 years, I really have had it made, and I can't wait to celebrate the many years to come!

Day 250: What A Nice Surprise

Today after coming home from school, I decided to go to the mall and shop around for a little bit for some senior picture clothes. The date of pictures is closing in and I still don't have all my clothes, so I need to get crackin! While I was there, my mother texted me and told me that I immediately needed to come home. I was a little confused, but I didn't respond because I was in the middle of a conversation with Riley and Jonathan (I saw them in Forever 21). A few minutes later, my mom called and asked if I was on my way home, and when I said no, she seemed a little angry, so I bade Riley and Jonathan goodbye and went on my way. When I got home, I asked my mom what the rush was. I mean I wasn't really finished shopping, why did I need to come home? She started explaining that my room was really dirty and that I needed to put all my clothes away. I knew that I only had a few shirts out, so I was a little confused as to why she would make me come home just for that. I rolled my eyes and walked upstairs, trying to figure why my mother was being so weird. But once I opened the door to my room, I instantly discovered why she was so persistent in getting me home. She, my brother, and all of my friends had decorated my room a day early for my birthday! There was a rainbow, a sun, and a few clouds with quotes on them hanging from the ceiling, and a long paper-link-chain hanging throughout my room. Without my knowledge, my friends had all written me letters on little strips of paper and given them to my mom to hang up throughout my room! It was the cutest room decorating ever, and I even started to cry I was so happy! I love my family and friends, and everything they have done to make my 18th birthday so special!

Day 249: Life Life

By living each day to its absolute fullest, you not only sleep better at night, but your are one step closer to your dreams. Take chances. Tell the truth. Date someone totally wrong for you. Say no. Spend all your cash. Eat whatever you want. Fall in love. Get to know someone random. Be random. Say I love you. Be loved. Sing out loud. Dance whether people are watching or not. Laugh at a stupid joke. Forget about others people's opinions of you. Cry. Get revenge. Apologize. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Tell a jerk what you feel. Let someone know what they're missing. Stalk someone. Blackmail. Laugh til your stomach hurts. Go on adventures with your friends. Spend precious time with your family. Live life. There is not a shred of evidence to support the theory that life is meant to be serious. <3

Day 248: All You Need Is Love

Since we didn't finish all of the Valentine's cards last week, NHS had an opportunity after school today, because there were cards that still needed to be made for the hospital kids! Trying to make a pretty card with a good saying while all the while trying to get it done quickly is probably one of the hardest things to do. After giving it a bit of thought, I thought of the most perfect quote, "All you need is love". It's a common phrase, but it's very dear to me. It's a part of one of my favorite songs of all time, "Elephant Love Medley" from the musical movie "Moulin Rouge". It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and definitely among my top favorite musicals! Steffi showed me this song in the car on the way home from the beach, before I even saw the movie, and I've loved it ever since!

"Love is a many, splended thing
Love, lifts us up where we belong
All you need is love"

Day 247: Super Bowl XLV!

Tonight for Super Bowl, a group of us went over to Logan's house to watch the game. Mrs. Mary Jane Furrh is the best cook in all of America (at least, the best cook that I know), so we could definitely count on some tasty game time food! She went over the top, she made us stromboli, some of her famous white queso, chocolate fondue, and much more. I love going over to the Furrh household because the food there is always top notch! During the game, Logan thought that Jamie and her loud mouth needed a little punishment... so he handcuffed her to her belt loop! When she pleaded to be let go, he undid the one in her belt loop cuffed her to his treadmill! She was stuck there for a good ten minutes, and she even anonymously called his phone to get him let go... only after a little persuasion! Pretty much everyone there was going for the Packers, except for Andrew and Savannah. Good thing too because they won! To be honest, I wasn't as psyched about the Super Bowl as I was last year, because I wasn't really a big fan of either of the teams. The Saints are definitely my team. They may not have done as well this year, but I still love Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints more than any other team!

Day 246: Getting (a Little Too) Crazy

There are only three words to describe today; Tanning, Attic, and Tacos. Today was just a crazy day overall! It all started out with Jamie, Mark, and Matt just hanging out and my house watching the A&M and Baylor basketball game. The Aggies wound up losing, which was a downer, but by that time we didn't care. We were onto bigger and better things! A couple of more friends came over to hang out and just have a good time on our three-day weekend! Over the course of the day there was laughter, celebrating, crying, and pretty much almost every emotion possible. I realized today that no matter what goes on in my life, I really do have the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Whether it's good times or bad times, my friends really are some of the best people I have ever known. Whether we're down the street or miles apart, I know that no matter what kind of crazy shinanigans I get myself into next year, I always know who to call!

Day 245: SNOW DAY!

Thanks to all the worrying about snow and the pervasive school district cancelings throughout the Houston area, our superintendent did something we never thought would happen... HE CANCELLED SCHOOL! Everyone everywhere was talking about how it was going to snow today, and that the roads were going to be too icy to drive on. To be honest I don't really care what the reason was that we didn't have to go to school, I was just happy that it was Sugar Land's first snow day EVER! Last year when it snowed, we had to stay at school the whole time, and just had to keep inside while it snowed. :( But this year, we got to stay home the whole day! Even though it technically didn't snow, I was still happy that we got to get off school. No matter what weather, I'll take getting out of school! Tonight Kaitlyn had a couple of us over for some snow day activities. We had some hot chocolate, some just dance, and of course some pillow talk! Even the boys got into Just Dance, which never happens! Getting to hang out with friends and whoop their butts and dancing was probably the best way I could think of celebrating our Sugar Land snow day! :)
